Derivonomy
The first flow diagram below illustrates the sugar beet derivonomy, an ontological way of characterising the cascade of feedstock (product or co-product) streams deriving originally from freshly harvested sugar beet and subsequently put through a series of processes or refinements, only one terminal product of which will be sucrose (ultimately derived from sugar mixtures).
The second diagram below is of the BioHub KB, and shows the ontology structure itself (i.e. the core classes and restrictions—relations between members of those classes).
