The first flow diagram below illustrates the sugar beet derivonomy, an ontological way of characterising the cascade of feedstock (product or co-product) streams deriving originally from freshly harvested sugar beet and subsequently put through a series of processes or refinements, only one terminal product of which will be sucrose (ultimately derived from sugar mixtures).
